The BAA Half Marathon and road closures on Sun, Oct. 13 (may affect your church commute!)

For those who are planning to come to church in person this Sunday, Oct. 13, just a heads up: there’s a lot of adventurous people who are going to be running a half marathon nearby! And it might affect your church route.

The BAA (aka the organization that puts on the Boston Marathon) is hosting its half marathon this Sunday. The route begins and ends in Franklin Park and runs along the Jamaicaway/Riverway, which some people may normally cross over in order to get to our church at 351 Centre St, Jamaica Plain.

If you live in JP or are coming from east of there, or if you’re taking a train to church, you shouldn’t have any issues.

However, for anyone coming from south of the Forest Hills Station, or west of the Jamaicaway, you may want to build in some extra time to make your way around the race… since there aren’t many easy places to cross through the route!*

Here’s a map of the course, as well as other info about road closures.

*If you’re coming from Brookline or on Route 9, you should be able to pass under the race course on the Riverway overpass right before South Huntington Ave. Then turn right on South Huntington to head our way.

Hope to see you at church! 10:00am @ 351 Centre St, Jamaica Plain. Or call in to church as usual: (605) 475-4000 x 636128

Love from your pals at Third Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston (Jamaica Plain)
