* Expect love, love, and more love *

Quick technical note!  We will hold our meeting at the bank tomorrow.  (Address below.) Drivers: we understand there’ll be a parking ban in effect for major streets.  Here’s a map of which streets in JP those are.  We’re also not sure whether the nearby parking lots will have been plowed or not, as it may still be actively snowing before/during church time.

We’ll have our phone line, so if driving/walking in doesn’t feel right for you, you’re more than welcome to attend from wherever you are.

And now, a love note.

[[ This is the way God put it:

“They found grace out in the desert,
these people who survived the killing.
Israel, out looking for a place to rest,
met God out looking for them!”
God told them, “I’ve never quit loving you and never will.
Expect love, love, and more love!…

…“I’ll bring my people back
from the north country
And gather them up from the ends of the earth,
gather those who’ve gone blind
And those who are lame and limping,
gather pregnant women,
Even the mothers whose birth pangs have started,
bring them all back, a huge crowd!
“Watch them come! They’ll come weeping for joy
as I take their hands and lead them,
Lead them to fresh flowing brooks,
lead them along smooth, uncluttered paths….

…“That’s right. The time is coming when I will make a brand-new covenant with Israel and Judah….

…“This is the brand-new covenant that I will make with Israel when the time comes. I will put my law within them—write it on their hearts!—and be their God. And they will be my people.” ]]

True for the Israelites then… and true for us now.

On fire about good

Dear wonderful people,

Tomorrow, we’ll gather at 687 Centre St – the Eastern Bank – to share testimonies of healing, and how faith in God has brought tangible results. We’ll see you at 7:35pm EDT (or hear you on the phone via (605) 475-4000 x 636128, at the same time).

The readings explore the concept of “Being on fire about good!” Our church will be taking some time this weekend to focus on this idea, and we’d love to extend the invite to you, too

Here’s a passage on this topic from The Message:

Matthew 5:14-16

“You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”
