Praise God!

Praising God is one of the many themes present in this week’s Christian Science Bible Lesson. The first text given, the Golden Text, comes from the book of Revelation and reads, “…We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and has reigned.” (King James Version, Rev 11:17) and the subjects of God’s dominion and praise continue throughout the lesson.

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines praise in one way as, “to express thanks to or love and respect for (God).” I love this idea and how expressions of thanks, love, and respect can come in so many different forms by everyone who engages in praise. After all, God and God’s creation are infinite!  So what are you grateful for today? And how do you show it in your own unique way?

Please join us Sunday at the bank for praise and worship and love!

“Happiness is the truth” – an irresistibly contagious fact to exult in

Once in a long while, a music video that’s not by members of our church deserves a post.

My favorite scene is any where a person who doesn’t fit the Hollywood picture of a person on top of life is just too overjoyed not to dance and spread the happy (ie, most of the scenes). Irresistible.

My second-favorite is 5:08pm, where a Hollywood-type is on a bus.  Some folks are into his happy; others try to rain judgment on the parade.  But forgiveness, love, and the purity of his message carry the day, and within a few minutes the whole bus is infected with the happy.  Irresistible.  And his converts go and spread the good word in subsequent clips, and the love spreads on.

Have you ever been too happy to hold it in?  Share!  Post a comment 🙂  Or better yet, just praise the source of your good, by going out and sharing it with your neighbor.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Come together

Come join with your brethren and sistren in praising Good.  It’s natural.  This week we’re joining hands with our neighbors at Third Church of Christ Scientist in Boston.  We’ll be meeting at their current home, Spontaneous Celebrations, on 45 Danforth St. in JP, starting at 9:45 Sunday morning.  (Call in at (605) 475-4000 x636128.)  We’ll have readings regarding the question: “Are sin, disease, and death real?”, as well as music and prayer.  And so much love backing it all.
