“Fill your minds with beauty and truth”

This blog has produced perhaps too many words to read of late.  So today, we’re just gonna marinate in some good thought at the behest of Paul:

Finally, brothers and sisters, fill your minds with beauty and truth. Meditate on whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is good, whatever is virtuous and praiseworthy.

Do that, not because it’s nice, but because it’s what substance is, and what we’ll learn the most from.

We’ll be sharing some of the beauty and truth we’ve experience this Wednesday evening at 7:35 (EDT), @ 687 Centre St. in JP, reachable via (605) 475-4000 x636128#.  We’d so love to have you join us!

“Happiness is the truth” – an irresistibly contagious fact to exult in

Once in a long while, a music video that’s not by members of our church deserves a post.

My favorite scene is any where a person who doesn’t fit the Hollywood picture of a person on top of life is just too overjoyed not to dance and spread the happy (ie, most of the scenes). Irresistible.

My second-favorite is 5:08pm, where a Hollywood-type is on a bus.  Some folks are into his happy; others try to rain judgment on the parade.  But forgiveness, love, and the purity of his message carry the day, and within a few minutes the whole bus is infected with the happy.  Irresistible.  And his converts go and spread the good word in subsequent clips, and the love spreads on.

Have you ever been too happy to hold it in?  Share!  Post a comment 🙂  Or better yet, just praise the source of your good, by going out and sharing it with your neighbor.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Wednesday for you

Hey.  You.

What’s up?  Take a moment and answer that question honestly.  Then come to our Wednesday evening meeting: If whatever is “up” is something you’re grateful for, we’d love to hear about it.  If it’s something you’re struggling with, coming will help you see the tools to sort it out.  It has on so many occasions for so many of us.

My point is, this Wednesday’s evening meeting of sharing is for you.  You’ll be glad you came.  We’ll be glad you came.  So come: 687 Centre St. in JP, @ 7:35pm EST, or (605)475-4000 x636128, or Skype (contact christian.science.jp.church).

Divine Mind loves you, and so does jpchurch.

Christ-mas meeting

Merry happy!

Tomorrow is a day when folks all over the world celebrate the advent of Christ Truth entering our experience, anticipating a wealth of healing.  For some this holyday means family, for some it means generosity, for some festivity, for some trial.  Whatever you’re experiencing this winter, we invite you to our Wednesday meeting this Christmas, where we’ll be sharing how we’ve experienced the Christ coming in our own lives.  It’s truly a celebration, and all are welcome.  687 Centre St. in JP at 7:35pm.  Or call in at (605) 475-4000 x636128#.

Scientific Discovery! Share some this Wednesday evening

Today I made a discovery!  During the winter, this website has mysterious snow.  I discovered what determines the direction of the “wind”: wherever your mouse is, the wind blows in/from* that direction.

Have you made any discoveries lately?  This Wednesday evening, like every Wednesday, folks will be gathering to share discoveries they’ve made in a field a bit more significant than webpage meteorology: how to apply Christian Science to their daily lives.  Come hear, share, sing, and apply this science with us.  687 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain, MA, starting @ 7:35pm.

*sometimes one, sometimes the other — can you figure out when it’s which?

1st Friday, August!

August was named after an emperor whose name meant “venerable, majestic,” possibly originally coming from “consecrated” (augurs) or “that which increases” (augment).  This August will live up to its name, because we’re kicking it off right:

Come to August’s First Friday Open Mic, sponsored in part by the Christian Science Society of Jamaica Plain.  It’s going to feature Saul Williams!  This event has been growing rapidly the last few months, and this stands to be a great gathering – you don’t want to miss it 🙂

It’s at First Baptist, 633 Centre St., JP (just north of where we often meet), starting at 7pm, Friday 8/2.

See you there!  Bring something to share, bring friends, or just bring your ears.
